UNU Jogja Student Wins 2nd Place in Literature and Arts Competition Commemorating the 130th Anniversary of Sergei Yesenin

Yogyakarta, Indonesia – Hisba Cahyani Irawan, a 2022 student of the Pharmacy Program at UNU Jogja, successfully won 2nd Place in the Literature and Arts Competition organized by the Embassy of Russia in Indonesia.

The competition was held to commemorate the 130th anniversary of Sergei Yesenin, one of Russia’s greatest poets, renowned for his works rich in themes of natural beauty, love, and humanity. In this event, Hisba delivered Yesenin’s poem "Вот уж вечер" (Now it’s Evening) with deep expression, captivating the judges.

The competition attracted hundreds of participants from various universities across Indonesia. Hisba’s achievement demonstrates that UNU Jogja students are able to compete in a nationally recognized event with international nuance, while also embodying the spirit of cultural friendship between Indonesia and Russia.

The participation of UNU Jogja students in commemorating Yesenin’s works carries significant meaning. Not only does it introduce Russian literature to the younger generation in Indonesia, but it also strengthens academic and cultural ties between UNU Jogja and institutions in Russia.
